INFORMATIONAL BROCHURE

CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR

AREA EDUCATION AGENCY 267

AEA 267, Cedar Falls, Iowa, is looking for a dynamic leader and service-oriented individual to serve as Chief Administrator effective July 1, 2010.

The nine-member board is seeking candidates with high integrity, outstanding leadership qualities, a strong focus on student achievement, and a proven record as an educational leader.

Completed applications must be received no later than Monday, March 8.

The current base salary is approximately $174,140. While no range has been established for next year’s salary, the board will be offering a very competitive compensation package.

This vacancy is due to the retirement of Dr. Dean Meier.  Dean was the Chief Administrator for AEA 2 prior to the merger of AEAs 2, 6, and 7.  He has served successfully as Chief Administrator of AEA 267 for the past seven years.

Area Education Agencies are funded from federal-aid and state-aid payments; legislatively controlled property tax; federal, state and private grants; and tuition for classes. A nine-member board of directors is elected by local school boards to govern budget decisions. The chief administrator handles the daily operation of the agency's divisions, each of which is headed by a director. In addition to the main office in Cedar Falls, the agency also has main offices in Marshalltown and Clear Lake as well as nine special education sector offices located throughout the served area.

AEA 267 serves over 66,800 students including 60 public school districts and 25 non-public school districts. In addition, over 5,000 educators rely on AEA 267 for services in special education, school technology, media and instructional/curriculum support. The agency's service area reaches 18 counties and nearly 9,000 square miles.

Area Education Agency 267 provides support in the areas of quality instructional materials, curriculum planning, best practices in teaching and learning, safe and caring learning environment, appropriate educational opportunities for all learners, technology planning, professional development, assessment, special education, leadership development, and more.

The  mission of AEA 267 is to provide educational leadership, services and support to positively impact children, families and educators within the local schools it serves.

Please refer to the agency’s web site for more detailed information http://www.aea267.k12.ia.us.
